Welcome to the first newsletter of the new year! We are continuing our “Meet the Therapists” series with the Timi Schuessler edition. Timi and her husband of 48 years, Ken, hail from Nebraska and have carved out a beautiful life from their early start as high school sweethearts. They have three grown children and currently are enjoying grandparent duties to 6 adorable grandchildren! And if that isn’t enough to wear you out, they just got a new black lab puppy named Dutch!
Timi has an extensive background in helping people take better care of themselves in the fitness arena. She was a personal trainer, a group fitness trainer and especially loved teaching the Silver Sneakers group. This love of helping people help themselves has segued beautifully into a career of helping on a much deeper level. Timi sees her role as a therapist at Envision, as being a motivator and an encourager. She will always strive to provide a safe space. Timi’s favorite part of being a therapist is getting to see that the work that she is doing with her clients is having a positive impact in their lives. That the work her client is doing is really working and making a difference in their everyday life. Timi’s heart’s desire is that her clients have an encounter with God in their therapy journey. Her personal mantra is exactly what she does with her clients – speak the truth in love. A phrase from the song “One Thing Remains” is a promise she embraces for herself and for her clients – His love never fails, never gives up, never runs out on us. Wise words Timi, wise words. If Timi could be anything else in the world she would enjoy being a columnist in the likes of Erma Bombeck. She then immediately said she was dating herself with that choice. But, to teach people through an everyday column about who God is, all while bringing joy and laughter would be a fun job for our former high school paper journalist!
Now we need the secrets – What gets Timi out of bed? A really good cup of coffee. What is Timi’s guilty pleasure? A really good margarita with a little salt. What is Timi’s favorite pastime? Neighborhood walks and grandkiddo time. Where is Timi if not at work? In her recliner with a really good book, being creative in the kitchen, or spending time with her family. My refusal to end an interview without a favorite movie/TV quote refreshingly continues into the new year!
“If it were easy, everybody would do it. Hard is what makes it great.”
– Tom Hanks, A League of Their Own
